This page will be devoted to the thread doll with tips, pictures and information about it.   Please send pictures of your projects and tips and hints that will help others in sewing out the thread doll aka paper doll.

I have found that stitching the clothes on THICK cut away stabalizer works well and is quick and easy!  Just hoop, stitch and cut them out.  Another time and money saver!!

Want to make "real" paper dolls?  Just print out the doll and clothes in a program with "real view" and cut them out.   Just like the old ones we used to play with :)

Re-stickable glue sticks work wonderful on the back of the clothes!  No need to put it on the doll and as it begins to wear off, just rub a little more on it to refresh it!  I use Scotch brand.  This is available thru Turner Office Supply in Lytle, TX.  They will be happy to ship it to you if you can't find it in your area.  Telephone number is (830) 709-4055.

Glue magnet tape (availale at craft stores) to the back of the doll, put double sided tape or the re-stickable glue stick on the back of the clothes and use her for a magnet.  She can dress up your refrigerator and give the little ones a place to play while in the kitchen.

Need different dolls and clothes for different children in your family?...... mirrow image the doll and clothes and sew the clothes in different colors.

Try using double sided scotch tape for a "quick fix" for playing with the clothes.  When it will no longer hold the clothes to the doll, just replace the piece of tape.  I really like using the tape!  Quick and Easy!!

I personally prefer to sew the doll and clothes for playing with on felt, with a medium weight cut away stabilizer on the back .  When cutting around the pieces, if you get too close and cut into the stitching, use Fray Check or other sealer to stop any loss of stitching.

Honey Bea will be in the Aug/Sept. - 2001  issue of DESIGNS in Machine Embrodiery publication.  You can subscribe to DESIGNS by calling 1-888-SEW-0555.  I think you'll enjoy what I did with her to make her easy for a child to carry and play with her.

This set looks wonderful on a shirt.  Use your imagination to have fun with this set.  She isn't only for the little ones!!!

Paula has sent pictures of the Honey Bea tote that she made.  Here is a picture of the outside of the tote, with the perfect fabric chosen... little flowers for the honey bees!

Paula's picture here shows the clear vinyl pouch with the clothes layed out on the inside of the pouch.  She took the directions from "Designs in Machine Embroidery", the Aug-Sept. 2001 issue, to make her pouch.

The final picture of Paula's Honey Bea pouch shows the opposite inside of her pouch.  Paula told me she stitched out 4 sets of Honey Bea...3 for her nieces and 1 for herself!    Thank you for letting us see your cute pouch Paula.

From New Zeland, Andrea sends us pictures of her Honey Bea project.  In the above picture and the ones to the right, Andrea has made a little carrier for Honey Bea and her clothes.  She has embellished the front with the little bee free design and personalized the carrier.  On the inside, she made pockets for the clothes.   Another cute and useful way to use these designs.  Thank you Andrea!

Here is a picture of TRIPLETS, with the girls playing with their Honey Bea's and the boy with his favorite character pillow!  Can you imagine the activity around this house with these beautiful children?

Another picture of the Triplets, this time even sharing the camera with one of their kittys and Honey Bea.  No names or email is being given to protect the little ones, but a special thank you to a special mommy for sending these.  By the way, the mommy is VERY talented and creative ..even with 3 babies to care for!

Here are some pictures of Honey Bea dressed in her latest "Celebrations" outfits.   I have chosen to put her in her poinsetta suit, be a queen for a day, and a little rabbit.

Here I've dressed Honey Bea in her jams, then her little nurses' outfit and to celebrate one of my favorite holidays, Halloween.   Can't you imagine the fun you and your little one can have with these?

Fern provides us with a novel idea of using Honey Bea.  She made this t-shirt for a friend who is "nuts for purple" so she stitched the thread doll and clothes on purple felt and used only lavender and purple in various shades for the clothes.  She then appliqued them to a purple t-shirt, placing them at random.   Thanks for providing us with a new idea Fern.

Another picture providing a view of some of the clothes of the Honey Bea set used by Fern.  This is an example that this set is also for the "kid" in all of us!

Mary from Shreveport wore this wonderful shirt to MEEC in Las Vegas.  She put the small Honey Bea and her clothes on the front and used baby rick rack for the clothes line to simulate the little clothes hanging on the line.  It was admired by all who saw it!

MHHb2.gif (37438 bytes)
This is a little closer view of the front of Mary's shirt.  You can see that she put the doll on the pocket and below it, she included her name and two of the free bee's to enhance it.  Above the pocket, she used one of my other free designs from another set, and put the little bee pollinating the flower.  Mary is always so creative... and a we appreciate her sending pictures of her projects to give all an idea of how to use the designs.  Thanks much Mary.

MHHb3.gif (36185 bytes)
Here Mary sends a picture of the back of her shirt.  She put the larger Honey Bea and some of her clothes, again with the name under the doll.

MHHb4.gif (35686 bytes)
A closer look at the back showing the designs, as well as the fact that Mary put "All Grown Up" on the yoke of her shirt.  Such a creative and fun idea to use these designs for the big "kid" in all of us!
